DESCRIPTION
The red-fronted macaw is a parrot endemic to a small semi-desert mountainous area of Bolivia. These macaws are endangered species but successfully bred in captivity.
They can learn to talk but can also be a bit loud.
Red Front Macaws are a little smaller than the average macaw but have a big personality.
What do you expect from your Macaw? When you bring one home, you expect him to be friendly, have the talking ability, be intelligent, and sociable, and give you unconditional love and companionship. This is what you want and this is what you can have. You need to treat your Macaw the same when you first get him as you would a year from now. They are highly intelligent creatures who can give you much pleasure and fun, but at the same time can be noisy and cause you frustration if not treated properly and are spoiled too much. They will love you tremendously. Family members, neighbors, and even strangers will be able to come over and pick up the bird, but only if you expose him to others every chance you get. They love the interaction. Larger Macaws are a bit more sociable with strangers than the smaller ones, but the smaller ones will still be good with others if you work with them. This is why you will need the whole family to be able to hold and play with the bird. They bond very strongly with their owner. In our experience, the larger ones are a bit more forgiving when it comes to unfamiliar people.
